collaborative parent consultation with courtney

Forget about the sticker charts and rewards,

it’s time for meaningful change.

Hi I’m Courtney!

Leveraging over a decade of experience in pediatric mental health and a lifetime of experiences as a multiply neurodivergent human, my approach to parent consultation is deeply collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming, and trauma-informed.

Each session is crafted to equip you with both strategies and support empowering you to navigate the unique challenges of raising neurodivergent children in a world not designed for them.

I make no promises to have ALL the answers—and I don’t have a secret manual for parenting—but I do commit to walking alongside my clients as they uncover a new way to understand their children and parents in a way that feels values-aligned and effective.

How can parent consultation help?

Parent consultation provides a space for you to explore your experience as a parent as you realign your parenting style with your core values and long-term hopes for your child. Sessions are designed to meet you where you are, help you understand what’s hiding under those challenging behaviors, and develop understanding and strategies to help you support your child and enhance family connection and communication in healthy, effective ways.

Building upon the 5 C’s framework, parent consultation can help you with:

  1. Curiosity: Gain a deeper understanding of your child’s unique way of interacting with the world and explore how neurodiversity shows up in your family—the whole family, even you—including sensory and access needs.

  2. Compassion: Deepen your compassion—and self-compassion—as you deepen your understanding of both your and your child’s needs, helping you remember the strengths and progress even in challenging times.

  3. Connection: Strengthen bonds by developing ways to enhance communication, provide coregulation, and use shared experiences and interests to bond. Learn how to reconnect and repair after conflict, and how to maintain connection when feeling frustrated or overwhelmed.

  4. Collaboration: Learn about and practice powerful skills that you can implement at home as you help your family work together to problem-solve cooperatively and proactively to address concerns.

  5. Confidence: Find yourself feeling more equipped with the skills and knowledge to effectively support and advocate for your child at home and beyond.

What to Expect:

Parent consultation sessions are intentionally designed to create meaningful change in your family, following a structure that meets you where you are, and provides personalized strategies and solutions that go beyond conventional advice.

We’ll use concrete activities and resources along ‘action steps’ in between sessions, guided by our flexible '5 C’s to help you:

  • Explore your family dynamics including boundaries, roles, and any competing needs within your home

  • Uncover the origins and impact of your parenting approach as you realign with your core values as a parent

  • Understand the root causes of challenging behaviors and how to apply this knowledge to more effectively navigate and respond to concerning behaviors

  • Develop and implement strategies that support your child’s emotional, social, and developmental growth

Although I do provide one-time consultation sessions, I recommend that parents who are hoping to create long-lasting change begin with a six-session parenting consultation package with me.

Bonus: We share a dynamic document to keep us on track!

To help with navigating learning and resources, parents who schedule 2+ sessions with me will gain access to a private, shared document that allows us to have two-way communication. In this document, I take notes from our sessions, detail the ‘action steps’ you commit to, and share resources for you to explore in between sessions. So you don’t have to worry about forgetting something when we meet next, you can use this to add notes during the week, too.
